Global Doctor Shortage Linked To Boom In Medical Podcasts

Geneva—A recent World Health Organisation report found that the number of medical podcasts now outstrips the total number of medical professionals working in the health sector by a factor of 10 to one.

To maintain public health, the WHO is now prescribing individuals 15 minutes of motivational podcasts daily, alongside whatever subscription supplement package the doctor is spruiking.

The report shows, for every doctor that leaves, on average four other health professionals exit the health sector. Administration staff are taking charge of social media roles, while nurses typically transition into podcast producers.

Dr Lemmy Rattlon, host of the podcast “Listen to me or DIE” sat down with The Scrolletariat and explained over 10 episodes why he switched careers. “Becoming a doctor wasn’t about the money, and it wasn’t about saving people either, though that was an unexpected by-product. It’s about me talking down to people from my learned position. It just fills me with innate joy. Unlike a 15-minute doctor’s appointment, with long-form podcasting I can lecture my suffering patients for hours.”

For individuals seeking urgent medical attention, the WHO is now advising patients to post questions to their GP during their weekly Ask Me Anything episode.
